Never ending fun!

Mojo and Thor have been doing great together. I wouldn't say they don't have their days of minor disagreements but life is so full with the two of them around. We can not help but smile. Thor has grown from 23 lbs. to 44 lbs and Mojo's weight has been registerd at 70 lbs at his October vet visit. The two have very different personalities, but both are well mannered and eager to learn. Mojo would never defy the rules, where Thor can't wait to see if you're paying attention and then prances away like "that was fun!"

Puppy reminder!

Mojo and Thor napping until Mark woke them up with the camera.

We had a scarey reminder that we have a puppy in the house. This past Friday night we decided since everyone was home that we would have a family movie night. We had eaten a great dinner and I had made dark chocolate brownies for dessert. Anyone who knows our Mojo knows that he will never touch or take any food (not even a crumb off the floor) without us telling him it is okay. He won't even eat his own food without us telling him to eat. Well let's just say Thor is nothing like Mojo when it comes to food.

Mark set down his brownie dessert onto the coffee table and went to pick out a DVD for the family to watch; within seconds Thor had eaten his brownie. Normally I would not think even twice about it and I would simply just correct the dog, but these were dark chocolate brownies. The kind that can really harm a dog let alone a puppy. Annabelle immediately started to cry and cradle Thor. I went to the phone and called the emergency animal hospital. Thankfully, he only ate one and had no ill effects. Thor lives up to his name and is one tough dog. Annabelle after being consoled was happy she didn't have to worry about Thor.

Apparently though Mark isn't a quick learner, so on Monday while he was sitting on the floor eating his lunch Mark set his plate down next to him.Thor then snuck around the chair and ate Mark's sandwich without Mark noticing (no KISS was not on the tele!). Mark couldn't believe it. He was so quiet and fast. LOL! Duh, aren't we all when we don't want to get into trouble?

So to update - In the month that Thor has been a part of our family he has gained 10 lbs, has grown 3 inches taller and my floors have never been cleaner!

Mojo and Thor update

Mojo

Thor
Mojo and Thor are doing great. Thor has learned so much in a short time. Yes, he has taken a break on the China dig. The poop in the hole has worked, but now he thinks that is where he should poop. We will just have to continue to work on the correct potty area.
In regards to play time, there are times that Mojo just has had enough and almost looks like he's begging me to get Thor off his neck. LOL!

"Hey, did you hear that?"
There are some very nice quiet times with them both too. Sometimes after a calm few minutes of Thor adoring Mojo, Mojo seems to give in and gets up to egg Thor on to come and play. It is really sweet.
Mojo "Can you get him to leave me alone for a minute?"

Mojo "Alright Squirt let's go play."

Thor has learned to sit for the door to open.

Thor after ringing the bell to go out.

Thor has learned that doors do not open until you sit.  He has also learned that we will open the door to let you go out to do your business if you ring the bell on the door. Of course, he also thinks this bell is for play time too!

We have been so blessed to have these two beautiful and smart animals. We hope they both continue to learn and grow to be happy and healthy. We just love these boys and I think they love each other too.

Puppies!

Okay, so this isn't Thor digging but it makes my point. Thor is a digger. I know most dogs that dig do it because they are bored or frustrated. This doesn't seem to be the case for Thor. He likes the smell of something in the middle of our yard. He smells and smells and then stops. He smells again and at just the right spot he will dig. Of course if he's already started to dig he will dig in the same spot. If we let this behavior continue he will be to China by the weekend. So far positive reinforcement has worked with Thor but I'm not sure how to handle the digging issue. Mojo never dug in our yard so this is new terrirory for us. The funny thing is how fast he is about it too. He looks like he's trying to find a spot to do his business, so the whole time I'm like go to your spot (he digs outside the potty area) and he keeps sniffing and then with a blink of an eye he's digging a hole. If I could just find a way to get him to dig up only weeds, I'd have no problem with this behavior. Puppies - you have to love them because they are so darn cute.

Puppy = Lots of Play + Lots of Rest

Mojo and Thor have had a great first week getting acquainted with each other. Thor is doing well learning his name and the rules of the house. He's getting the "Sit", "Leave it" and "Stay" command. He has also learned to go to his crate when we eat at the table. We don't even need to close the door. Although he has ran out a couple of times just to find out that we can catch him in the house! LOL!

Play time!

Mojo and Thor

Scott coming back from what he
descripes as another "Epic" walk with Thor and Mojo

Me with Mojo and Thor on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Looks like everyone is quite comfortable
 at home here, including Annabelle!
Mojo and Thor both seem to be adjusting very well. I am very pleased with how much Annabelle and Scott are helping out with Mojo and Thor. We've had a great first three days so far and will see how Thor reacts to Mark when he comes home from his fishing trip tonight.

It's official - Mojo's a big brother

After an introduction walk we introduced
Thor to the house. Mojo supervised.

Yeah Scott, we will play with you later.

Mojo to Thor "You go that way and I'll go this way"

I've see this same look from my kids - "Yessss Mommmm"

That was a great meal - thanks!

I'm a little tired so I'm going to rest now, if you don't mind.
Today we introduced Mojo to his new brother Thor. Thor is 4-5 months old and so far fits in great with this family. He traveled well with us up from Kentucky and met Mojo on a walk today. I was so proud of Mojo. He was so good and seems to be taking to his new role without any hesitation.  He's even sharing his toys. Thor like most puppies like to follow us and Mojo around, but true to the Malinois breed when they are tired of you they go do their own thing. If today was any sign of the future then we are one lucky family.
